SA U21 Ladies Camp
Toni Marks will be off to camp on the 15th till 22nd January in JHB. This is the second camp with the first already taken place in December 2010. The squad has also been reduced to 24 players, and will most likely be finalised after this one. We wish her all the best, and know she'll do well.EPHF Club of the Year 2011
Gelvan hockey club was named Eastern Province Hockey Federation club of the year at the awards evening held at the EPHF facility yesterday. The 2011 award was tightly contested with rival clubs, however Gelvan emerged victorious. This award has been a great result of all the hard work put in by both the club executive and all the members.
Gelvan hockey also took center stage when individual awards were presented. Liesel Dorothy was named the EPHF Womens Player of the Year, while Toni Marks took the Most Promising Player award.
The Legends and Tornados were both acknowledged for their league victories in their various divisions. Both teams went through the season unbeaten with the Legends winning every game. The Hurricanes took the Premier Mens Runner up trophy.
Well done to all the members, supporters, sponsors and all those that played a role in this successful season. The benchmark for next season has been set.
Night of the Stars
Gelvan hockey closed off another successful season with a glamourous awards evening on Friday night at the Gelvandale stadium. The evening which was a black and white affair, carried the theme "Night of the stars" and lived up to the theme with various members being awarded for their great season perfomances. All credit must be given to the organising committee for a well organised function.
Final League Standings
Great results his season, with gelvan teams producing two league winners and two teams within the top three of their respective leagues. The Tornados and Legends remain unbeaten this season with the Legends not dropping a single point this season. Standards have been set for next season. Well Done Gelvan.
